To ask the Secretary of State for Health what steps he is taking to ensure that NHS cancer patients do not lose access to the latest innovative cancer treatments which they are presently able to receive when the Cancer Drugs Fund comes to an end in 2014.

National health service organisations will continue to be legally required to fund cancer treatments recommended by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) in its technology appraisal guidance.

We will ensure that there are arrangements in place to protect individual patients who are receiving treatment with drugs funded by the Cancer Drugs Fund as the end of the Fund approaches.

We want to find a way in which patients who would benefit from drugs provided through the Cancer Drugs Fund can continue to do so, at a cost that represents value to the NHS, after the Fund comes to an end.
