To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what reports she has received on the use of funds of the Global Fund for HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria in Karen State, Burma.
The Global Fund resumed support to Burma in January 2011 after a gap of six years. The first phase of grants totalling US $105 million for 2011 and 2012 is for programmes on AIDS, TB and Malaria. Global Fund grants operate in all states and regions of Burma, including Karen state. A diagnostic review of the grants was carried out by the Global Fund's independent Office of the Inspector General (OIG) in November 2011.
