To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps he is taking to encourage the Government of Burma to sign, ratify and implement those core international human rights treaties to which Burma is not yet a party.
The UK Government regularly raises human rights with our Burmese counterparts, making clear that progress on human rights is one of the key benchmarks for judging the depth of the reform process currently under way in Burma.
