To ask the Secretary of State for Health what plans he has to improve the treatment given to patients suffering from Crohn's disease.
The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) published a clinical guideline for the treatment of Crohn's disease in October 2012. NICE has also been asked to develop a quality standard on Crohn's disease as part of the library of quality standards announced in March 2012. Through the NHS Outcomes Framework we will be holding the national health service to account for improving the quality of life of people with longer term conditions; including Crohn's disease.
