To ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment he has made of the underspend of the East Midlands allocation of the Cancer Drugs Fund.

In 2012-13, NHS East Midlands received an initial allocation of 11.504 million(1) for the Cancer Drugs Fund. Information supplied to the Department by the strategic health authority indicates that to the end of September 2012, 3.291 million of this had been spent.

(1) 200 million is available for the Cancer Drugs Fund in 2012-13. This comprises 140 million which has been allocated to the national health service and a further 60 million that is available for strategic health authorities to draw down as needed.
