House of Lords written question – answered at on 13 November 2012.
To ask Her Majesty's Government what discussions they have had with the Governments of Cyprus, Greece, Turkey and Russia, and with the United Nations and representatives of the Turkish authorities in Northern Cyprus, about the finds of natural gas in the Eastern Mediterranean; and when those discussions took place.
The discovery of these sizeable natural gas reserves is a significant development in the eastern Mediterranean's energy map. As such, the issue is routinely discussed between the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and governments in the region as part of an ongoing dialogue on energy security and regional stability.
