Mike Freer (Finchley and Golders Green, Conservative)
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how much his Department spent on newspapers, periodicals and trade publications in the last 12 months.

Norman Baker (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Regional and Local Transport), Transport; Lewes, Liberal Democrat)
The central Department and six of its seven Agencies spent £71,053 in the last 12 months on newspapers, periodicals and trade profession magazines. This compares to an equivalent spend of £155,875 in the 2010-11 financial year. The Driving Standards Agency could only provide the figure at disproportionate cost.
