To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government whether he expects new areas of land to be designated as green belt following the publication of the National Planning Policy Framework.

It is for local authorities to decide if they want to designate new areas of green belt, and if so to take proposals through the Local Plan process which includes public consultation and an independent examination. The National Planning Policy Framework sets out policy on green belt in Section 9 of the document.
