Reparation by Offenders
Justice

Mike Wood (Batley and Spen, Labour)
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice for what offences he proposes that restorative justice practices will be applied.

Crispin Blunt (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Prisons and Probation), Justice; Reigate, Conservative)
Restorative justice offers victims an opportunity to be heard and to have a say in the resolution of offences. It can only meaningfully take place where the offender admits responsibility and both they, and their victim, are fully able and willing to engage in a restorative process.
We plan to develop a cross-criminal justice system framework for restorative justice to provide guidance to local practitioners on how restorative approaches can be effectively developed across the system and when they will be appropriate. We will draw upon existing evidence and practices that are already in place with the aim of spreading best practice across the system.
