Stop and Search
Home Department

Heidi Alexander (Lewisham East, Labour)
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department pursuant to the answer of 21 May 2012, Official Report, column 844, what consideration she has given to widening the scope of the Association of Chief Police Officers’ review to include an assessment of both good and bad practice in the use of stop and search by the police.

Nick Herbert (Minister of State, Justice; Arundel and South Downs, Conservative)
holding answer
The Secretary of State for the Home Department, my right hon. Friend Mrs May, commissioned the Association of Chief Police Officers to undertake an assessment of good practice on stop and search with the aim of raising standards in its application across all forces. We have no plans to extend the scope of the review.
