Information on the number of residential planning permissions granted by local planning authorities in England for each quarter between quarter 1 in 1997 to quarter 4 in 2011 (the most recent available) has been placed in the Library of the House.

These figures show that the number of granted permissions rose by 7% in 2011 compared to 2009.
