To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government if he will take steps to encourage closer partnerships between private landlords and local authorities.

Many local authorities already do excellent work in partnership with private landlords where that helps to address local priorities. They do this through training, accreditation and awareness-raising, alongside direct engagement through local letting agencies and private leasing schemes. We welcome these schemes, but know that they work best when tailored to local circumstances, and have no plans for any top down intervention from central Government.
