To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what the planned end-of-service date is for each of the Vanguard Class submarines.

As outlined in the Strategic Defence and Security Review, the planning assumption for service entry of the first Vanguard successor submarine is 2028. The in-service dates for subsequent boats will be determined at Main Gate in 2016. The out-of-service dates for the Vanguard class submarines will be managed to ensure that continuous at sea deterrence is maintained throughout the transition to the new class.
