House of Lords: Reform
Deputy Prime Minister

Simon Hart (Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire, Conservative)
To ask the Deputy Prime Minister how many letters and emails his Office has received calling for the creation of an elected House of Lords in the last 12 months.

Mark Harper (Parliamentary Secretary (Political and Constitutional Reform), Cabinet Office; Forest of Dean, Conservative)
The Government have received more than two thousand representations since the publication of our White Paper and draft House of Lords Reform Bill in May last year. A detailed breakdown of the correspondence on House of Lords reform has not been undertaken but the majority are concerned with the question of reserved places for Church of England Bishops in a reformed House of Lords.
