Developing Countries: Irrigation

To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what assessment he has made of the use of drip irrigation systems in developing countries; and whether his Department is engaged in work with Israel in this field.

In a resource constrained and climate challenged world it is imperative to focus on technologies that produce the best production returns for a developing country's farmer in terms of cost and resource efficiency. However DFID has not made a specific assessment of the use of drip irrigation.
DFID has not had any discussions with Israel on international co-operation in agriculture technology relating to drip irrigation.
