The Chancellor of the Exchequer, my right hon. Friend Mr Osborne, announced in his Budget speech on 21 March 2012, Hansard, columns 793-808, that Departments would be expected to move towards introducing local market-facing pay reform over the next few years. The Home Office is currently considering what this means for staff around the country, including Wales, and will discuss this with staff and trade unions as part of the annual pay negotiating process.

At 30 April 2012, the Home Office had 517 paid civil servants based in Wales.
