To ask the Secretary of State for Defence on what occasions he has taken flights to overseas countries on official business since August 2010; what class of travel was used on each such flight; and by whom he was accompanied on each such flight.
Details of all Ministers' overseas visits, including the cost of flights and number of officials accompanying the Minister, are published every quarter on the Ministry of Defence website at:
The Secretary of State is accompanied by a Private Secretary, and a special adviser and officials if the business requires. Section 10 of the Ministerial Code provides guidance on travel for Ministers and makes clear that Ministers must ensure that they always make efficient and cost-effective travel arrangements.
