Renewable Energy: Feed-in Tariffs
Energy and Climate Change

Graeme Morrice (Livingston, Labour)
To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change what assessment his Department has made of the potential effects on the feed-in tariff scheme of introducing (a) an under-deployment mechanism and (b) a community energy tariff.

Gregory Barker (Minister of State (Climate Change), Energy and Climate Change; Bexhill and Battle, Conservative)
The Government are currently consulting on proposals for a number of changes to the feed-in tariffs (FITs) scheme, including a contingent degression mechanism and options for how community installations might be defined and treated. These proposals do not currently include an under-deployment mechanism or a specific community energy tariff (though it seeks views on the latter), so no assessment has been made of the potential effects of such mechanisms.
