Between 1 April 2009, when the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking was implemented in the UK, and 31 March 2011, which is the most recent period for which these data are available, 48 individuals who were conclusively found to be victims of trafficking were granted 12 months' leave at the request of the police due to their participation in a criminal investigation or proceedings.

In the same period, 162 individuals who were conclusively found to be victims of trafficking were granted leave due to their personal circumstances. This includes grants of asylum, humanitarian protection and discretionary leave.
