Pensions
House of Lords

Lord Jones of Cheltenham (Liberal Democrat)
To ask Her Majesty's Government what consideration they have given to uprating all overseas United Kingdom state pensions annually.

Lord Freud (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Welfare Reform), Work and Pensions; Conservative)
The UK state pension is payable world-wide but is only up-rated if the recipient is residing outside the UK where there is a legal requirement or reciprocal agreement to do so. There are no plans to change the current arrangements. The Government believe that, particularly in the current economic climate, resource priorities should remain focused on pensioners within the UK.
