To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what consultations she has undertaken with establishments using animals in scientific procedures on plans to reduce the number of regional offices used by inspectors operating under the Animals Scientific Procedures Act 1986.

No formal consultations have been undertaken with establishments designated under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986. Current proposals to restructure the Home Office Animals in Science Regulation Unit (ASRU) are designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our implementation of the 1986 Act and we are confident these will not disadvantage designated establishments.
