Higher Education: Student Numbers
Business, Innovation and Skills

Shabana Mahmood (Birmingham, Ladywood, Labour)
To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills which higher education providers submitted bids to the Higher Education Funding Council for England for contestable student places; and for how many places each provider bid.

John Hayes (Minister of State (Further Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning), Business, Innovation and Skills; South Holland and The Deepings, Conservative)
The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) will confirm the allocation of higher education places to institutions that have successfully bid from the contestable margin, by the end of February, following an appeals process. HEFCE will make an announcement about the outcome of that process shortly afterwards.
HEFCE do not intend to publish information about which individual institutions have bid for contestable places or how many places they have bid for.
