To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what assessment he has made of governance and humanitarian issues in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The state is weak with limited capacity in the Democratic Republic Congo. The system lacks transparency and accountability and corruption is endemic. The humanitarian situation is one of the most enduring globally. Conflict, malnutrition and disease epidemics render the population vulnerable with millions in need of emergency assistance.
