Legal Aid Scheme: Families
Andy Slaughter (Hammersmith, Labour)
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what proportion of reductions in his Department's expenditure on family legal aid is projected to relate to costs paid to solicitors delivering family services in (a) 2012-13, (b) 2013-14 and (c) 2014-15.
Jonathan Djanogly (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (HM Courts Service and Legal Aid), Justice; Huntingdon, Conservative)
Savings calculations were made on a ‘steady state’ basis and as such it is not possible to provide an annualised profile. However, based on steady state calculations, we estimate that 81% of savings attributable to family legal aid relate to costs paid to solicitors.
