Universal Credit
House of Lords

Lord Touhig (Labour)
To ask Her Majesty's Government whether any external consultants are advising on the planning and development of the system that will be established to run the universal credit.

Lord Freud (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Welfare Reform), Work and Pensions; Conservative)
We are using our current IT service providers on the early deployment of the universal credit build. These providers have developed the re-usable components which will be utilised and have significant experience in developing the technologies required for the new development.
DWP has framework agreements in place with service providers for the provision of IT. The service providers involved in the IT delivery for universal credit are currently: Accenture, IBM, Hewlett Packard and BT, plus input from Agile specialists emergn.
