Written answers and statements, 5 November 2009

Alun Michael (Cardiff South & Penarth, Labour)
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether members of his Department posted to Bogota have visited political prisoners in Colombia jails.

Chris Bryant (Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Foreign and Commonwealth Office; Rhondda, Labour)
No, but we have pointed out to the Colombian authorities that those charged with crimes should have their legal rights fully respected, including to a fair trial.
