Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs
Written answers and statements, 5 November 2009

Gregory Campbell (East Londonderry, DUP)
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps the Government are taking to encourage dialogue between the authorities in Israel and Palestine.

Ivan Lewis (Minister of State (Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs), Foreign and Commonwealth Office; Bury South, Labour)
holding answer
From my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister down, we work closely with the Israeli and Palestinian authorities, and our international partners, to promote efforts towards a comprehensive peace in the Middle East. We are also working on the ground to improve the capacity of the Palestinian Authority to provide security and services for Palestinians and to support economic growth. Both through political engagement and practical assistance we are seeking to make progress towards a two-State solution.
