Dai Davies (Blaenau Gwent, Independent)
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence for what reason his Department has removed from public access at the National Archives papers on the Nuclear Weapons programme which had previously been released.

Bill Rammell (Minister of State (Armed Forces), Ministry of Defence; Harlow, Labour)
Since 2002 a small number of departmental nuclear files have been recalled, re-reviewed and found to have included papers relevant to the operation of the current UK deterrent or of possible proliferation concern. With the agreement of the Lord Chancellor and his Advisory Council, a small amount of material has subsequently been removed from the files and retained within the Department.

Nice one. Thats because the government doesn't want every Tom Dick or Harry to know about the nuclear weapons programme and keep information away from nutters both internally and externally that would do our country harm.
