Written answers and statements, 2 November 2009

Angus MacNeil (Spokesperson (Transport; Rural Affairs; Scotland Office); Na h-Eileanan an Iar, Scottish National Party)
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how much the Government spent on its consultation over plans to downgrade the missile range and its associated sites on the Western Isles.

Quentin Davies (Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Ministry of Defence; Grantham & Stamford, Labour)
The consultation on the proposed changes at the Hebrides Range was conducted as part of normal departmental business and it is therefore, not possible to provide a figure. The only discrete costs that can be identified relate to travel and subsistence expenses incurred by the MOD as a result of visits to the range in support of the consultation process. These costs amount to less than £2,000.
