To ask the Minister of State, Department for Transport what his most recent assessment is of the environmental benefits of car clubs.

The Department for Transport endorses car clubs and sponsors Carplus, an organisation which promotes car clubs nationally.
Carplus publish an annual survey produced in conjunction with the Transport Research Laboratory which shows the environmental benefits of car clubs. The most recent, for 2008-09, was published in April this year. This can be found on their website at:
