To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what the rate of (a) absence and (b) absence resulting from injury at work was among Hertfordshire Constabulary employees in each of the last five years; what estimate he has made of the cost to the public purse of such absences; and if he will make a statement.

The detailed absence figures requested are not collected annually.

Figures on sickness absence for the past five financial years are published on the Home Office website at the following link:

http://police.homeoffice.gov.uk/performance-and-measurement/performance-assessment/

Information on the cost of such absences is not held centrally.
