To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government how many Gypsy caravans there are on unauthorised encampments.

The caravan count undertaken in January 2007 shows that there were 1,286 Gypsy and Traveller caravans on unauthorised encampments in England. There were 13,073 Gypsy and Traveller caravans on authorised sites.
