To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what tendering process is used to decide which company supplies ministerial red boxes to his Department.

As the value of orders placed for the supply of ministerial red boxes is below the minimum HM Treasury threshold for competition, the requirements are placed on a single tender basis with Barrow and Gale Ltd.

All Government Departments operate a similar minimum threshold for competitive tendering.
