To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport whether the Heritage Lottery Fund can entertain applications for funding for privately owned piers.

The Heritage Lottery Fund considers every application made to it. Trustees of the fund have decided that, because of high levels of competition for its funds and the need to secure maximum public benefit from lottery funds, applications from private owners will be a low priority.
