To ask the Prime Minister what recent discussions he has had with his EU counterparts on the prospects for introduction of EU-wide taxes on kerosene air fuel.

I have had no recent discussions with EU counterparts on this issue. However, the Government recognise that the exemption of aviation from fuel tax is anomalous, and continue to argue for change on an international level.

Nice succinct answer from the PM. This problem will need to be discussed on a world wide basis for any increases in aircraft fuels to be successful. Obviously anybody taking a holiday in say New Zealand will need to reconsider his destination in future. The holiday market in the UK will obviously benefit from the change in destinations which I'm sure the Hon Gent will contribute to.
