To ask the Secretary of State for Health what the expenditure of strategic health authorities (SHA) in the last year for which figures are available was, broken down by major cost area (a) in total and (b) for each SHA.
Strategic health authority (SHA) expenditure for 2004-05, the latest year available, is shown in the table. The majority of expenditure by SHAs relates to training and education and there will be variation in expenditure because SHAs fund training on behalf of other health bodies.
