I announced on 16 March, Hansard, column 40WS, a public consultation on options for access to the island. The consultation has now been completed. A report summarising the responses that were received is now available on the Department for International Development website: http://www.dfid. gov.uk/.

We will consider carefully the views submitted in the consultation, taking into account the current economic conditions.

What a total waste of public funding! HMG have used yet another unnecessary consultation, which tells them exactly what they already knew, to kick this vital development project in to the long grass for at least a year thereby physically applying their own "preferred Option" ~ Delay making a decision by upto 5 years. All this has actually achieved, as clearly identified within the Consultation Report, is to create further distrust of HMG by these loyal BRITISH subjects!
