Routine enquiry of domestic abuse has not yet been systematically introduced within Accident and Emergency services in NHS boards in Scotland, therefore data on numbers of disclosures is not currently held centrally. The National Gender-based Violence Team is working with NHS boards to support the rolling out of routine enquiry of abuse in the priority settings identified in Chief Executive’s Letter (CEL_41 (2008)). Routine enquiry of domestic abuse will not include systematically recording whether the abuse has been reported to the police.
