Douglas Alexander: The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has kept in close touch with the Home Office over the ID card scheme. It is not possible to estimate the potential cost to the FCO until legislation has been completed and policy issues relating to use of or access to ID cards overseas have been clarified.

Mr Douglas Alexander: ...status of the Rohingyas. The Malaysian Government have indicated that those Rohingyas who have been documented and given refugee status by the UN High Commission for Refugees will be issued with ID cards. This will entitle them to legal status in Malaysia, enabling them to find work and giving their children access to education.
