Public Bill Committee: Health Service Commissioner for England (Complaint Handling) Bill: Clause 1 - Statements and reports: investigations not concluded within 12 months (15 January 2015) See 1 other result from this clause

Andrew Percy: My hon. Friend is right about the increase in complaints. The professional associations—the royal colleges—are also receiving more complaints, but the legislative framework for them to handle those complaints is often quite difficult. In the Health Committee last week, we heard about that from the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Does he agree that, whoever forms the next...

Opposition Day — [12th Allotted Day]: Steel Industry (14 January 2015)

Andrew Percy: I share with the hon. Member for Scunthorpe (Nic Dakin) the Scunthorpe steelworks, which are very important to our constituencies, as well as to that of my hon. Friend the Member for Cleethorpes (Martin Vickers). One mistake made by this Government—my hon. Friend and I voted against them on this—was on the carbon floor price. One way to make things better would be to increase...

Businesses (North of England) — [Mrs Anne Main in the Chair] (14 January 2015) See 3 other results from this debate

Andrew Percy: I have to correct the hon. Gentleman on the idea of a consensus that the RDAs were performing well. In the Humber, we felt strongly that the Yorkshire regional development agency was very much Leeds-focused, and it is fair to say that since introduction of the Humber LEP, we have a real vision of what we want for our economy in terms of new renewable energies and a real drive to get to that....

Oral Answers to Questions — Health: Topical Questions (13 January 2015)

Andrew Percy: The Secretary of State, the Department of Health and my local hospital trust inform me that there are more doctors and nurses in the local NHS and the NHS nationally than there were in 2010. This weekend, residents in north Lincolnshire received a leaflet from the Labour party saying that there were fewer doctors and nurses and less care. Who is telling the truth?

Oral Answers to Questions — Prime Minister: A and E (Major Incidents) (7 January 2015)

Andrew Percy: I congratulate Goole hospital on hitting its target 99.7% of time, and the trust as a whole on hitting its target 93% of the time. I spent my Christmas volunteering in the NHS at A and E and with the ambulance service. Staff repeatedly told me that as first responders what they see are more old and frail people needing to be admitted to hospital. That situation was not helped by 50,000...
