Leasehold Reform (23 May 2023)

Peter Bottomley: ...life in their own home, and how soon those who are screwing them can be unscrewed. S. J. McCarthy and others secured an extension for ground rents on retirement homes. I have written to him at Ringwood in Hampshire, asking how many properties the company has sold since 1 April 2022, and how many properties it will sell with leases backdated to before the ban on ground rents. That is the...

Energy Bill [Lords] ( 9 May 2023)

Desmond Swayne: On clean energy, I am very enthusiastic to see the hydroelectric generator that we used to have on the Avon at Ringwood generating electricity once again. Will my right hon. Friend use the powers afforded to him in clause 273 to take on the huge barriers to entry that prevent community energy generators from selling to customers?

Air Quality Strategy (24 Apr 2017)

Desmond Swayne: You will want to know, Mr Speaker, that on Friday, I launched the new double-decker fleet for the X3 bus service that runs from Salisbury to Bournemouth via God’s own towns of Ringwood and Fordingbridge. The fleet combines convenience and comfort with lower emissions than those from the lawnmower that I pushed round my garden on Saturday evening. If the Secretary of State wants to break the...

Petition - Implementation of the 1995 and 2011 Pension Acts (12 Oct 2016)

Desmond Swayne: I present the petition of Susan Carter of Ringwood and some 80 other constituents of the New Forest West parliamentary division who support the campaign for Women Against State Pension Inequality. The petitioners urge that the House of Commons makes a fair transitional arrangement for women born on or after 6 April 1951, who have unfairly borne the burden of the increase in the state pension...

New Grammar Schools ( 8 Sep 2016)

Desmond Swayne: ...State has said about diversity and choice, but will she acknowledge that a grammar school might not be suited to every town? I would not relish the prospect of informing parents in Fordingbridge, Ringwood, New Milton or Lymington that their child, not having been able to get into the grammar school, would have to be bussed elsewhere.

St Ives First School (10 Jun 2015)

Christopher Chope: ...from 2 November this year. For some time St Ives has suffered from turbulence and instability, because although it is geographically in Dorset, the nearest secondary school is about 1 mile away in Ringwood, Hampshire. Because Hampshire has a two-tier system, parents with pupils at St Ives have often opted to move into the Hampshire system early, to secure a Hampshire primary school place...

Scottish Parliament: Eating Disorder Awareness Week 2014 (26 Feb 2014)

Nanette Milne: ...schools are often celebrated and championed. I make absolutely no criticism of that, but they are also risk factors that contribute to eating disorders at such schools, as key experts such as Susan Ringwood of Beat have identified. In independent schools, unlike in the state sector, there are no guidelines on provision of pastoral and psychological support for pupils. I recognise that many...

Members' Home Addresses (28 Apr 2009)

Chris Bryant: ...There is obviously also too much excitement in politics in the constituency of the hon. Member for New Forest, East (Dr. Lewis), although he rather lost me when he was going on about the mayor of Ringwood, which sounds like a veterinary equine condition. I pay tribute to the hon. Gentleman, who is not only one of the most fastidious Members, but one of the most respectful, and indeed the...

Sovereignty of Parliament (European Communities) Bill: Road Traffic (Congestion Reduction) Bill (13 Jun 2008)

Christopher Chope: ...reported on the Transport Direct website this morning. In the "Live travel news" section, which I last checked at 9.38 am during a Division, there were severe delays on the A31 eastbound at Ringwood road because the road was closed between Ashley Heath junction and the M27 Butchers Bush junction for accident investigation work. That closure began at 5.24 am, and it was still in force at...

Forestry Commission (19 Mar 2008)

Joan Ruddock: ...there are catering franchises, shops at visitor centres and, of course, an annual series of live music concerts. That brings me to the heart of the debate: the proposal to create an events area in Ringwood forest, which is planned to be used on one weekend a year for live music and for the occasional community event. I reassure the hon. Gentleman that there are no weekend festivals such as...

Find this exact word or phrase

You can also do this from the main search box by putting exact words in quotes: like "cycling" or "hutton report"

By default, we show words related to your search term, like “cycle” and “cycles” in a search for cycling. Putting the word in quotes, like "cycling", will stop this.

Excluding these words

You can also do this from the main search box by putting a minus sign before words you don’t want: like hunting -fox

We also support a bunch of boolean search modifiers, like AND and NEAR, for precise searching.

Enter a name here to restrict results to contributions only by that person.
