- Oral Answers to Questions — Treasury: Topical Questions (14 Jul 2009) has video
Eric Illsley: I wish to return to the subject of the bingo industry. Will my hon. Friend seek an early meeting with the Bingo Association to clarify the point that she made on Report, when she said that she was still waiting for information from the association about its figures? She also said that the industry had accepted the taxation regime that the Government introduced in the Budget. I am sure that...
- Care Homes (Domestic Pets): Clause 20 — Bingo duty (8 Jul 2009)
Eric Illsley: I am grateful to my hon. Friend for that intervention. I had not had that information, but she has made the point eloquently. I agree with her that it will be the smaller clubs that feel the pinch. Obviously, the bigger companies are more able to stave off losses, but at the end of the day the effect will be felt by the whole of the bingo industry.
- Care Homes (Domestic Pets): Clause 20 — Bingo duty (8 Jul 2009)

The hon....
- Care Homes (Domestic Pets): Clause 20 — Bingo duty (8 Jul 2009)
Eric Illsley: The hon. Gentleman makes a valid point. I am not sure that it is healthy for anybody to sit in front of a computer terminal for any length of time, whatever they are doing. That relates to what I shall say shortly when I compare bingo with other forms of gambling. As opposed to someone sitting in front of a computer terminal at home with a credit card, playing bingo in relative secrecy,...

- [Mr. Eric Illsley in the Chair] — European Commission Annual Policy Strategy (2 Jul 2009)
Eric Illsley: The hon. Gentleman has answered his own point of order and has made my point. Of course there are references to the Lisbon treaty. I simply do not want this to turn into a debate completely about the Lisbon treaty. Hon. Members will have to refer to it, but not at the expense of everything else.

Eric Illsley: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, and may I offer you my belated congratulations? Will my right hon. Friend maintain a commitment to persuading the Israeli Government to accept the idea of a Palestinian state?
