Bills Presented: Education and Health (19 Nov 2009)

Alan Haselhurst: Order. I am sorry to interrupt the Secretary of State, but there seems to be constant interchange of a secondary nature during the debate. It is now becoming distracting.

Outlawries Bill: Debate on the Address — [1st Day] (18 Nov 2009)

Coroners and Justice Bill: Schedule 1 — Duty or power to suspend or resume investigations (12 Nov 2009)

Alan Haselhurst: While I appreciate that that is a matter of enduring and deep concern, I am afraid that the Chair has no means of requiring a Minister to come to the House on that matter; nor has the Chair had any notice that that might happen. The hon. Gentleman has made his point and there may be an opportunity before long for more to be said on that subject.

Coroners and Justice Bill: Schedule 1 — Duty or power to suspend or resume investigations (12 Nov 2009)

Alan Haselhurst: Order. This kind of language is not helping the debate in any way.

Bill Presented: Clause 126 — General Duties (11 Nov 2009) has video

Alan Haselhurst: The hon. Lady understands that that is not strictly a point of order for the occupant of the Chair, who cannot determine at the drop of a hat whether a Minister proposes to make any announcement to the House. It may still be open to the hon. Lady to make a request to Mr. Speaker to find out whether there is some way that the matter may be raised during tomorrow's proceedings.

Bill Presented: Clause 45 — Meaning of "qualifying trigger" (9 Nov 2009) has video

Alan Haselhurst: Order. I am sorry to interrupt the hon. and learned Gentleman, but I feel that I ought to intervene on behalf of the Official Reporters. The introduction of matters by Members from a sedentary position may make it much more difficult for them to produce a reliable account of our proceedings.

Bill Presented: Clause 45 — Meaning of "qualifying trigger" (9 Nov 2009) has video

Alan Haselhurst: Order. I realise that the hon. Gentleman has some knowledge of these matters to contribute to the debate, but that was a very long intervention and we have a limited amount of time left.

Bill Presented: Coroners and Justice Bill (9 Nov 2009) has video

Alan Haselhurst: I have to inform the House that it is not possible under the terms of the programme order for the hon. Gentleman's amendment to be put to the House. That is quite clearly laid down in the programme order and is backed by the appropriate Standing Order, so we have to move on.
