I agree wholeheartedly with Lord Judd and his request for rehabilitation. The applies especially to those who are in prison but suffering not from criminality but from severe and enduring mental illness, which these days can be treated, although the illness still underlies the treatment, and makes the sufferers very vulnerable to remission of their acute smptoms. One of the troubles being that there are too few people trained and working in the psychiatric services. It is also a gret strain on the carers of many of these patients who do not understand why the patient is thinking and acting as they do, if they are not treated
as long term and chronically ill patients.
