  • 12-13 May 2000, to Ypres, Belgium, to speak and participate in a conference on the subject of British soldiers executed in the Great War. The conference was convened by the Flanders Fields Museum of the City of Ypres, who paid for my fare and accommodation. (Registered 26 May 2000)
  • 9-12 September 2000, to Gibraltar, as Chairperson of the All-Party Gibraltar Group, for a series of meetings with the Chief Minister, other Ministers and the Leader of the Opposition: coinciding with the National Day celebrations. The purpose of the discussions was to discuss the constitutional future of the Territory and the border situation. I also met with the Commander of the Royal Naval Dockyard in Gibraltar to discuss defence issues. The cost of my travel and accommodation was met by the Territory's Government. (Registered 2 October 2000)
  • 3-6 November 2000, to Rome , to attend the Jubilee Celebrations for Parliamentarians held at the Vatican, at the invitation of the Organising Committee of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Parliamentarians for the Jubilee Year in the Italian Senate, who paid for my hotel accommodation while in Rome.
