I beg to move,

That if, on Tuesday 19 July, references to specific times in the Standing Orders of this House apply as if that day were a Wednesday, the Order of the Committee of 5 July shall be amended as follows—

(1) in paragraph (1)(e) leave out ‘10.30 am and 4.00 pm’ and insert ‘9.00 am and 1.30 pm’;

(2) in paragraph (3) leave out ‘7.00 pm’ and insert ‘4.30 pm’.

Good morning, Mr Brady. I hope that the motion will be one of the less contentious elements of the day. As the Committee will be aware, Tuesday 19 July is the last sitting day of the House before the summer recess. In the event that the House decides to run Wednesday hours rather than the usual Tuesday hours, if we do not change our sitting times we will be sitting well beyond the rising of the House. Much as I would be happy to do that, not everyone else might be, so in the event that the House decides that its sitting hours will be as per a Wednesday, as a concession I suggest that we amend our sitting hours as set out on the amendment paper.

Question put and agreed to.
