Clause 21
Education Bill
9:45 am

Nick Gibb (Minister of State (Schools), Education; Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, Conservative)
The clause gives effect to schedule 6, which provides for the position of chief regulator of qualifications and examinations to be held by the chief executive of Ofqual, rather than the chair. Under the provisions, the post of chief regulator will continue to be appointed by Her Majesty by Order in Council, and the chair will be appointed by the Secretary of State. Given that we will have a debate on schedule 6, I move that the clause stand part of the Bill.
