Clause 17
Serious Crime Bill [Lords]
10:45 am

Vernon Coaker (Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Home Office; Gedling, Labour)
May I place it on the record that, as the hon. Gentleman concedes, we have debated at length the difference between serious crime prevention orders and control orders? However, of the other civil orders accepted by the House, football banning orders run from two to 10 years, and antisocial behaviour orders and sexual offender orders last for a minimum of two years with no maximum. Again, the conditions that can be placed on people the subject of those other civil orders put considerable restraints on them in order to prevent them from offending again.
