New Clause 28
Pensions Bill
2:30 pm

James Purnell (Minister of State (Pensions Reform), Department for Work and Pensions; Stalybridge and Hyde, Labour)
My hon. Friend is right that one of the key thrusts of the Bill is to give women independence in retirement. My point is still valid: a woman in that situation would at least be able to keep getting the same amount of carer’s allowance. If her state pension were less than she was getting in carer’s allowance, she would keep the latter. We have introduced that.
