I think it is shameful that the hon. Gentleman brings that up in that way. My point is that under extended leave under section 3 and detention under section 2 of the Mental Health Act 1983 many people are effectively on community treatment orders anyway. The effect of the Lords amendment would be to restrict current practice. Does he agree?
